News history

From 30. May to 5. June 2016 there were international paramotor competitions held in Saaremaa, Estonia.
1-st FAI World Paramotor Endurance Cup 2016 and 3-rd Nordic Open Paramotor Endurance Race 2016 were held at the same time with 4 countries involved and with the most far participants arrived from Saudi Arabia.

For the safety on pilots, navigating in the area of 3000 km 6 continous days and for 5 hours a day, there were special GPS P-trackers supplied by Metrotec Estonia. Those incredible trackers show every pilot's position online in real time and offer a great possibility to follow the whole event even from the other part of he world, but the most important feature is radical impovement of safety in such competitions. Now every pilot is visibile to the organisers as well, full time and in case of any emergency or outlanding, pilot's position is easy to identify for rescue or recovery. Trackers provided by Metrotec even have a special SOS button for precise location of the pilot in need.
There were already many cases were GPS trackers were needed quite seriously. For example, Estonian pilot Ott Maaten landed Thursday on the very small island south of Saaremaa and it appeared to be so soft soil that he nearly drowned. Luckily his position was located very fast, the rescue operation was activated immediately and situation solved. Afterwards he continued the race with full energy.

It has become a tradition for Metrotec to track the movements of various groups of adventure travellers or sports folk, be it for the 63 km cross-country ski run known as the Tartu Marathon, an 80 km swim across the Gulf of Finland, an off-road vehicle expedition to Mongolia or the Amphibear's trip around the world.

This time, the focus is on a 4x4 travel venture to Central Asia. The travellers will pass the giant gas crater known as the Door to Hell in the Karakum Desert, the underground lake Kow-Ata, various sections of the famous Silk Road, the Pamir ?motorway? that runs along the border of Afghanistan, take in a great deal of wonderful natural sights and cultural experience, and discover many near-forgotten villages and markets. The Pamir highway is second highest in the world in terms of elevation, rising up to 4655 m above sea level. The company will test their equipment in conditions in which they only have themselves and their good luck to rely on.

Again it is time for Tartu Marathon. And again Tartu Emergency Medical Services provide the participants with medical safety net - on skis and on wheels. And naturally, for better and faster allocation of valuable resource, their locations and activities are visible to dispatchers. All in the interest of a potential patient who has no address. And even more valuable due to harsh weather.

Both hardware and software solutions are still 100% Estonian, more reliable than ever before. And again, for demonstration purposes, has Metrotec Llc equipped a group of marathon participants with tracking devices and created a webinterface to monitor their progress.

Click on www.metrotec.ee/tartumaraton2011 to trace the skiing enthusiasts of different level as well as the movements of Medical Services.

The ambulance brigades of Tartu Emergency Medical Services and several other medical providers have been visible on map to Enmergency Centre dispatchers since 2007. A real-time overview about location and utilization of ambulances has been of pricless assistance to increasingly efficient use of limited resources.

By now, the interactive map has reached the ambulance driver. A new technical solution F-Track FM by Metrotec Llc. enables dispatchers to display patients location to the electronic map in ambulance vechicle with a click of a mouse.

F-Track FM makes administration of vechicle fleet easier and more comfortable by losing distance between driver and office.

F-Track FM is introduced at Tartu marathon, where supporting medical personel is also on skis and potential patients have no address. Ambulance call is sufficient for locating the patient. A mouseclick will transmit the location to nearest uncommitted ambulance. The emergency number is still 112!

Since advertising leaflets and promotional articles are generally ignored all means are directed to visual demonstration. For this purpose has Metrotec Llc equipped a group of marathon participants with the devices and created a webinterface for monitoring their progress. www.metrotec.ee/tartumaraton2011

These are the main advantages that our customers will enjoy as a result of the latest updates to our F-Track product.

You can now monitor the position of your vehicles at all times regardless of their location. Optimized GPRS data transmission allows you to track your vehicles in real time whether they are located in the EU or in a third country – all this for the fixed cost of the few hundred Estonian kroons!

The updated software of the device will now register any change of direction in your vehicle’s movement, and log the coordinates of the point of change. This will considerably improve the precision of calculated trip distances and reduce discrepancies with odometer figures.

The updated web interface makes it easier and more practical for users to display various information regarding vehicle movements, also adding several new features.

Amateur athletes who swam a stretch of 57 kilometres from Lake Võrtsjärv to Tartu’s Arced Bridge last year have risen to a new challenge and will attempt to be the first swimmers ever to navigate the Gulf of Finland (full text of the article in Estonian in the daily Postimees, 20 May 2008).

The group of six swimmers (Priit Vehm, Bruno Nopponen, Henri Kaarma, Toomas Haggi, Andrus Jaamul and Kinne Tõnnison) will start out from Finland’s Porkkala Headland on 25 July at 5:00 a.m. Swimmers hope to cover the 55-kilometre distance in 15-20 hours, and expect to reach their destination in Suurupi, Estonia by the end of the day. The boat accompanying Toomas Haggi is equipped with a GPS/GPRS monitoring unit.

In response to customer demand, Metrotec has released a new version of the F-Track web application (www.metrotec.ee). The modernised application provides a better overview of the location of monitored vehicles and makes it easier and more convenient for users to check the travel routes of their vehicles. Users will no longer have to pick a separate application corresponding to their mobile service provider (EMT, Elisa, LMT or Megafon). Instead, they can all run the same application, selecting EKS as the service (EKS) or, for regular F-Track customers, clicking on the name of their mobile operator in the pull-down menu on the login screen. For further instructions, see Administration -> User Manuals.

In cooperation with the Emergency Medical Services of Tartu, Metrotec has developed an emergency medical services version of the F-Track application. In the first stage of the project, Metrotec equipped all EMS vehicles in Tartu with stationary positioning devices, which allow the monitoring of EMS brigades in real time and increase the efficiency of their management. The EMS version of the web-based application is primarily intended for the coordinators of emergency operations–dispatcher services and rescue centres. The application features a series of functions allowing detailed monitoring of the performance of the units during emergency calls, which will help to reduce the cost of EMS operations.

Kreedidiinfo AS, the Estonian subsidiary of the global credit information group Experian, has awarded Metrotec OÜ a Successful Estonian Enterprise certificate. The corresponding credit rating is based on a combined evaluation of the company’s economic and financial standing and its payment practices. Based on the annual report for 2006, Metrotec was given the highest rating, ‘excellent’ (AAA). Only 3.4% of Estonian companies have received an AAA rating.

Metrotec’s F-Track platform has added another service option, called Cargomonitor. It is an application that allows users to keep track of the shipping process from the reception of the order to the issue of the invoice. Cargomonitor standardizes the provision of shipping service, makes it easier to evaluate its efficiency, to plan transportation resources and analyze their rate of use. Cargomonitor reduces paperwork and is a valuable tool for logistics companies. It also provides a set of statistical data that will help managers to run their businesses more effectively.

The application was developed in cooperation with the Estonian firm AS Hert Transport.

The finance company AS Hansaliising Eesti and Metrotec have executed a cooperation agreement that will make it easier for customers to secure credit for a purchase of F-Track equipment. The company offers a financial lease package designed to fund purchases of machinery and equipment. To qualify for the package, the amount of the transaction must be 15,000 crones or more. The term of the lease may be 6–36 months and the interest rate is fixed at 14%.

SIA TFC and Metrotec OÜ have signed a distribution agreement for F-Track products. Under the terms of the agreement, TFC is authorized to supply F-Track solutions to customers in Latvia. SIA TFC mainly specializes in the sale and maintenance of trailers. An important secondary line of business is auto service, with a special focus on hydraulic and electric components.

TFC is an authorised retailer of Stalker radars and its list of key customers includes the Latvian Police Authority.

The Moscow-based transport company Autologistics OOO has decided to expand its fleet by two hundred units, which will make it one of the largest trucking companies in Russia (300-plus trailer trucks). Our new product F-Track EKS records all fuel-ups, fuel consumption, operating hours and compares actual consumption to standard estimated consumption. The product is intended for companies using backhoe loaders, bulldozers or other similar construction machinery, or for companies providing local transport services. The F-Track-EKS system will help you enforce fuel economy measures and efficiently monitor the operating hours of your machinery. The constant flow of information on the location of machines and their status will help to save valuable time. Wherever your vehicles are, information on their location and status is never more than a click of the mouse away.

In order to increase the efficiency of their operations, the security company Securitas Eesti AS decided to equip their patrol crews with F-Track systems. According to the specifications provided by Securitas, we have developed a special monitoring application that covers the client’s entire fleet and allows users to get up to speed regarding their fleet’s activities in no time at all. A single large screen at the control centre displays the movements of each and every crew. The changing colour of the dots denoting the crews provides information on their status. Patrol dispatchers can monitor the activities of patrol crews in real time and will be able to make informed decisions that take into account the status and availability of all fleet units. This is bound to save valuable minutes, thus contributing to the safety of our everyday lives.

The purpose of implementing the solution was to prevent fuel siphoning and to detect instances of excessive fuel consumption. The engines of Estonian Railway were equipped with onboard units that record the location of engines, travelling speed, level of fuel in their tanks and engine workload. If the fuel consumption at exceeds the estimated standard, the engine controller will transmit an alarm signal. The system will identify those stretches of railroad where the fuel consumption during a fixed period of time exceeds the standard. Real-time GPRS data transmission allows instant processing and analysis of the data immediately after the alarm signal has been received. Having information on the engine’s workload at any given moment makes it easy to calculate the standard estimated fuel consumption. A comparison of actual and standard fuel consumption makes it possible to determine the amount of fuel consumed in excess of the standard with a very high degree of precision, complete with a detailed timeline of events and specific stretches of railroad involved.

The method of determining the location of a vehicle by an exchange of SMS messages between the onboard unit and the monitoring server is now history – the new onboard controller units support constant data streaming, available for a monthly service fee of 6.5 euros only!

The new generation GPRS modems contain a TCP/IP application layer, which makes it easy to maintain an Internet connection. The new GPRS version of the Voyager 2005 GSM/GPS controller transmits location data to a fixed IP address at regular intervals. The software application displays the vehicle as a dot moving on the map in real time.

The new generation controllers are especially handy for trucking companies and emergency services / police forces who require constant monitoring of their fleet in order to improve the organisation of their everyday operations.

Voyager2004 - a new generation GSM/GPS controller with improved functionality that provides greater flexibility, accuracy, and reliability.

Hardware improvements include a more powerful processor, USB port, a real-time clock, and the use of lithium batteries for backup power. The reduction in the size of the unit is an essential change that further eases installation in situations where space is at a premium. The built-in thermometer enables the temperature of the environment to be monitored.

The Voyager2004 controller includes 7 binary inputs, 4 outputs, a touch pad input, a 2-wire-bus for connecting fuel and/or digital temperature sensors, an intercom connection interface, and a USB port. The controller can be programmed to record a log of the route travelled and the amount of fuel in the tank (more than 20 000 data points). The controller can be used as a GPS/GSM alarm device. The user can send commands to the controller via SMS, calling line identification presentation (CLIP), or GSM data link. Controller configuration and diagnostics are performed either via the USB port or over GSM data. Low power consumption means that the equipment can function on battery backup for almost 24 hours.

Its route and fuel data logging features mean that Voyager2004 has been designed primarily to meet the needs of transport companies. The operational versatility (remote control, temperature measurement, security functions, intercom, combined control options) of the controller makes it suitable for a wide range of telemetry applications.
